Corporate Sustainability Fellow

@ Furman University, Greenville, SC
Bill Flanagan has been a guest lecturer on the business use of LCA as part of Furman University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Sustainability since the program began in 2010. The program is designed for individuals or teams who are responsible for implementing sustainable business practices. “After seven years and more than 150 alumni, the program has helped over 85 organizations evolve their thinking and implementation of sustainability from one based on managing environmental impacts, to one based upon also improving economic and societal outcomes” said Brad Bechtold, Executive Director of Continuing Education at Furman University.
“In 2016 we recognized Dr. Flanagan as a Corporate Sustainability Fellow at Furman University. Bill is a leading edge thought leader who has led the industry in defining and implementing game changing sustainability initiatives, particularly in the area of Life Cycle Assessment. Since 2010, Bill has served as a lecturer in Furman’s Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Sustainability, and in the undergraduate day and evening programs. He has also been active in engaging with the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability and with faculty in Furman’s Sustainability Science program. Bill has been a tremendous asset to Furman University and our efforts to integrate sustainability into the university and the business community.”

“Our 2016 Corporate Sustainability Fellows are leading edge thought leaders who are in charge of defining and implementing sustainability initiatives for their organizations,” Bechtold says. “There are many sustainability type educational programs across the country, but none are as comprehensive and business focused as Furman’s program.”
